Metal Braces and More

To straighten their teeth, the majority of patients choose traditional metal braces.

While metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment, you have several other options.

Dr. McCarty will discuss which treatment would be best for you based on your specific needs and smile goals after your initial free consultation.

Fixed Appliances vs. Removable Appliances

It’s critical to understand the distinction between fixed and removable appliances. Fixed appliances, such as braces, are attached to your teeth and cannot be removed until your treatment is completed.

Removable appliances, such as Invisalign’s aligner system, are worn for about 20-22 hours a day but are easily removed.

Aside from the obvious distinctions, Invisalign aligners are most effective at treating mild to moderate orthodontic issues.

For more serious and comprehensive treatment, fixed appliances are usually required.

Metal Braces

The most common type of fixed orthodontic appliance is traditional metal braces. They’re usually made of a combination of high-quality stainless steel, nickel, and other metals.

Clear Braces

While traditional metal braces remain the most popular orthodontic treatment option, ceramic braces can be an excellent alternative for some patients. These clear braces offer a much more discrete method of treatment.

Invisalign® & Invisalign for Teens®

Invisalign, unlike traditional braces, is comprised of a series of custom clear trays called aligners that are removable and nearly invisible.
